Storm surrender early goals in loss to UT-Tyler

CONWAY, Ark. – The Simpson men's soccer team couldn't get on the board Saturday night, falling to Texas-Tyler 3-0 in the Warrior Classic, hosted by Hendrix.

Chris Powell scored two goals and Elijah Shipman had three assists for the Patriots (3-2), who did all of their damage in the first 37 minutes.

Powell scored his first goal in the 10th minute, giving UT-Tyler the early 1-0 lead. Adam Kemp added the second goal in the 17th minute and Powell found the back of the net for the second time at the 36:11 mark.

The Storm (4-4) took 10 shots on the night, putting five on goal.

Luke Aronow got the start, making two saves. Zach McEntee went the final 45, coming away with four saves.

Simpson continues its road swing Thursday, Sept. 20 when it goes to Culver-Stockton for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
