Storm top Crown in offensive frenzy

ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - Freshman Mitchell White registered his first-career hat trick and scored the game-winner as Simpson beat Crown 4-3 in a back-and-forth battle Saturday.

White gave the Storm (2-2) a 4-2 lead with his goal in the 68th minute, beating the Crown keeper in a one-on-one situation.

White also scored the first goal of the game just over a minute into the contest on a header when Mark Lahart served up the assist on a corner kick.

Chris Allen gave Simpson a two-goal edge when he scored unassisted in the 17th minute.

But Crown (1-2) mounted a comeback. Goals from Jon Schultz in the 45th minute and Truman Shetler in the 56th knotted the contest 2-2.

White gave Simpson the lead with his header in the 62nd minute off the assist from Kyle Kusy.

Shultz scored his second goal of the game in the 74th minute, making the score 4-3. But the Simpson defense kept the Storm out of the net for the remainder of the contest, preserving the win.

Crown outshot Simpson 23-19 on the night, putting 10 shots on goal to Simpson's seven. Luke Aronow made six saves in goal for Simpson and Chris Scanlon made two for Crown.

Simpson returns home Wednesday, Sept. 14 when it hosts Grand View in a 5 p.m. kickoff.
