MT. VERNON - Lucas Haack scored three consecutive goals as Simpson notched a 3-1 win Saturday against Cornell.
For the second straight game, the Storm (5-7, 2-1 IIAC) came back from a one-goal deficit for the win. Simpson trailed 2-1 before coming away with a 3-2 win against Buena Vista on Wednesday.
Less than two minutes into the match, Cornell's Kobina Essandoh gave the winless Rams (0-12-1, 0-4 IIAC) a 1-0 lead. Cornell held the lead through the remainder of the first half.
Simpson took over in the second half, beginning with Haack's (Ankeny, Iowa) first goal in the 47th minute, assisted by Mark Lahart (Newton, Iowa).
The game-winner came in the 81st minute, when Pat Alt (Nevada, Iowa) found Haack for his second goal of the game. The final tally came in the 84th minute, when Jeremy Reinert (Indianola, Iowa) assisted Haack on the play.
Despite the early deficit, Simpson controlled the game, taking 18 shots to Cornell's 4. Goalkeeper Luke Aronow (Ankeny, Iowa) made two saves for the Storm.
Simpson returns home Wednesday, hosting Coe at 7 p.m.
