Trio leads Storm at weather-shortened Wartburg Invite

WAVERLY, Iowa -- Three Simpson players carded a 7-over 79 to lead the Storm men's golf team to a fourth-place finish of seven teams at the weather-shortened Wartburg Spring Invitational on Friday.

Simpson's varsity team shot 317 at the par-72, 6,614-yard layout at Prairie Links Golf Club. The Storm finished five strokes behind third-place Wartburg. Nebraska Wesleyan won the team title after shooting 303.

The trio of Blake Bender, Nick Hartman and Korbin Sesker all shot 79 to tie for 12th place in the field of 51 golfers. Nathan Eaton, Nick Baumhover and Andrew Lallier were right behind at 80 and Reid Cobb carded an 82.

Originally scheduled for 36 holes, the tournament was shortened to 18 due to the threat of inclement weather Saturday.
