Lindenman tied for lead, Storm in fourth after two rounds

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Trent Lindenman used his best round of golf in championship competition to put himself in contention for an Iowa Conference title after the first two rounds of the Iowa Conference Championship from Finkbine Golf Course.

Lindenman carded an even-par 72 on Saturday and the Storm shot 307 as a team to move into sole possession of fourth place. Luther (602) leads, followed by Wartburg (617), Central (619) and Simpson (622).

Lindenman's 72 is his best round in four years of IIAC Championship competition and the best by a Simpson golfer since James Montgomery also shot 72 in 2010. He shot a 74 in Friday's first round, putting him at 146 after 36 holes. Luther's Elliot Horst had an identical scorecard after the first two rounds as the duo holds a six-stroke lead on the rest of the field.

The Storm shaved eight strokes in the second round and had the second-best score of the day, behind Luther's 302.

Shaan Desai and Nick Hartman had a lot to do with Simpson's rise in the standings. Desai improved seven shots from the first to the second round, carding a 4-over 76 Saturday to move into a tie for 19th. Hartman cut off three strokes, firing a 6-over 78 to stay even with Desai at 19th. 

Nathan Molstead and Korbin Sesker are tied for 25th after shooting 83 and 81 on Saturday, respectively.

Play resumes on Friday, April 29 at Oneota Golf and Country Club in Decorah. The initial group of five two-somes from Buena Vista and Coe tee off at 10:00 a.m. Beginning at approximately 10:50, the first group of players from Dubuque, Loras, and Simpson will tee off. Central, Luther, and Wartburg will be the last on the course.
