Lindenman leads Storm to fourth at Spring Invitational

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Trent Lindenman tied for fifth place and the Simpson men's golf team jumped two spots on the second and final day of the Simpson Invitational to finish fourth from Indianola Country Club.

The Storm shot 302 on Monday for a 36-hole total 611. Wis.-Stout won the team title with 587, followed by Luther (596) and Dubuque (608). 

Lindenman carded a 1-over 72 in the final round at Indianola Country Club's 6,369-yard layout, giving him 147 for the tournament. He finished just three strokes back of leaders Kraig Joy and Trey Hewuse of Wis.-Stout, who tied for first with 144.  Joy took medalist honors by winning the tiebreaker hole, hole No. 3.

The tournament field consisted of 65 players from 10 teams.

Lindenman made four birdies on the day and was 1-under through 11 holes before going 3-over on the final seven.

Shaan Desai and Nathan Molstead trimmed their second round scores on the home course, shaving two and eight strokes from the opening round, respectively. Desai shot 4-over 75 for 152 to tie for 17th and Molstead shot 2-over 73 for 154, good for 25th place.

Marshall Kray, Korbin Sesker and Nick Hartman all fired 82 in the final round and Blake Bender carded an 83. Mitchell Brown (87) and Miller Hatcher (89) rounded out Simpson's finishers in the final round.

Up next: Simpson opens play at the Iowa Conference Championship at Finkbine in Iowa City on Friday, April 22. The first two rounds will be contested at Finkbine with the final two taking place at Oneota Golf Course in Decorah, April 29-30.
