Lindenman's strong finish leads Simpson at Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Trent Lindenman turned in the second-lowest score of the second round and the Simpson men's golf team tied for ninth of 18 teams at the Frank Wrigglesworth Bluegold Invitational, which concluded Monday.

Lindenman fired a 2-over 73 Sunday at Eau Claire Golf & Country Club to tie for 14th in the 102-man field. He made four birdies on the day, trimming five strokes after opening the tournament with a 6-over 78 at Wild Ridge Golf Course on Sunday. He closed the weekend 8-over, five strokes back of champion Alex Case (Bethel).

As a team, Simpson shot 314 each day, closing at 628 to tie Webster and St. Olaf. Host Wisconsin-Eau Claire won the tournament with 603, three strokes in front of Augsburg and Concordia (Minn.).

Korbin Sesker and Nathan Molstead joined Lindenman with opening-round 78s Sunday. Sesker shot 5-over 76 on Monday to tie for 23rd and Molstead turned in an 81, tying for 49th. Shaan Desai (81-84-165) and Nick Hartman (80-88-168) rounded out Simpson's finishers.

UP NEXT
Simpson goes to the Saint John's (Minn.) Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20. Round one will be held at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell and round two will be held at Greystone Country Club in Sauk Centre.
