Storm take second at home tournament

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Andy Hutchins and Trent Lindenman tied for second in the individual standings and the Simpson men's golf team placed second of four teams at the Simpson Spring Invitational at Indianola Country Club on Tuesday.

The Storm finished with a team score of 304 at the one-round tournament, which AIB won with 295. Coe (326) came in third and Simpson's JV team (331) took fourth.

Bobby Brooks of AIB took home medalist honors, firing a 1-over 72 on the day.

Hutchins and Lindenman each carded a 2-over 73, putting them in a four-way tie for second. Hutchins birdied a pair of par 4s and Lindenman birdied the 120-yard, par 3 16th.

The round marked the lowest for each golfer this season.

Zach Hale finished with a 4-over 75 to finish seventh and Shaan Desai and Conner Juilfs each shot 83 to tie for 14th.

Leading Simpson's Gold team was Nathan Molstead and Jimmy Siebert, as each carded an 81 to tie for 10th. Joe Hupp shot 84 (16th), Tanner Birchmier 85 (t-17th) and Matt Haley 87 (21st).

Competing as individuals, Marshall Kray and Mike Rundle each shot 86 to tie for 19th.

Simpson is scheduled to compete in the Buena Vista Invitational at Lake Creek Country Club in Storm Lake on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
