Lindenman leads Storm at home invite

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Led by a solid performance by freshman Trent Lindenman, the Simpson men's golf team placed second at the Simpson Fall Invitational at Indianola Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.

Lindenman fired a 4-over 75 on the day, putting him in a tie for first at the conclusion of the 18-hole tournament. He came up on the short end of the scorecard playoff, however, settling for second of 39 golfers.

Simpson shot 316 on the day, three strokes behind tournament champion Wartburg and medalist Matt Kristensen (75).

AIB College of Business placed third (317), followed by Simpson's "red" team (322), Coe (325), Simpson's "gold" team (332) and Coe's "gold" team (404).

Lindenman finished with three birdies and eight pars on the day, shooting 5-over on the front 9 before rebounding with a 1-under on the back.

Andy Hutchins, Conner Juilfs, Shaan Desai and Jimmy Siebert all carded 7-over 78, contributing to a five-way tie for seventh.

Representing the gold team, Matt Haley shot 80 to tie for 12th. Nathan Molstead of the red team and Mike Rundle of the gold team shot 10-over 81 to tie for 16th.

The Storm will compete in the Dubuque Invitational this weekend, Sept. 22-23, at Dubuque Country Club.
