The 2023-24 season marks Brandon Stromer's 14th as the top assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the Simpson men's basketball team.

Following the 2016-17 season, Stromer was named the top assistant coach in all of Division III by CoachStat.net. He came in at No. 1 on the list of the top 25 assistants in Division III after helping lead an impressive turnaround over the last two seasons.

During his tenure, Stromer has taken the lead on recruiting five All-Conference performers and has coached eight. Stromer helped bring in 2018 Iowa Conference MVP Sam Amsbaugh, along with former standouts Cornelius Mosby (2nd team, 2011), Chad Boston (2nd team, 2012), Charles Swain (2nd team, 2015) and Dillon Gretzky (2nd team, 2016). He also coached first teamers Conor Riordan (2018 and 2019), Zack Barragan (2012) and Elijah Knox (2013), and second teamers Adam Reiter (2019) and Kyle Wagner (2019).

Stromer joined Simpson's staff on July 6, 2010. He came to Simpson with experience at NCAA Divisions I and II, winning a national championship in Division II as a player. He then coached under 2008 Associated Press College Basketball Coach of the Year, Keno Davis at Drake.

Stromer spent three seasons at Drake, most recently serving as director of operations under head coach Mark Phelps in 2009-10. Before that he was the video coordinator and a graduate assistant during the 2007-08 season. That year, Stromer helped the Bulldogs to a historic season in which the team won Missouri Valley regular season and tournament championships while earning a No. 5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. 

Before joining the staff at Drake, Stromer played collegiately at Winona State University. There, he helped the Warriors to an NCAA Division II championship in 2006 and a national runner-up finish the following season. In the process, Winona State won a Division II record 57 consecutive games and won three Northern Sun Conference titles. Stromer finished his career ranked ninth all-time in games played.

Stromer obtained a master's degree in Adult Education and Org Performance from Drake in 2010. He and his wife, Libby, reside in West Des Moines, Iowa with their daughter, Madelyn.
