
Simpson drops road matchup against Buena Vista
STORM LAKE, Iowa - Despite picking up 35 points off the bench, highlighted by Caden Rehmeier's 12 points, six rebounds, the Storm dropped the road matchup 98-75 to Buena Vista on Wednesday night.
Buena Vista (9-6, 4-2 A-R-C) capitalized on 15 3-pointers, eight coming from guard Zane Neubaum, who finished with 39 points. Simpson (4-12, 1-6 A-R-C) had four players reach the double-digits mark in scoring, led by Colton Rasmussen's 17 points. The Storm outscored Buena Vista 44-to-41 in the second half, but were unable to overcome the first half deficit of 26 at halftime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Simpson commanded the early 12-8 lead over the first four minutes of action on baskets from Gurwell and Rasmussen.
- Buena Vista managed to chip away at the lead and by the halfway point of the first half, held on to a 25-20 lead.
- In the final ten minutes, Buena Vista out scored Simpson to a tune of 32-to-11 to carry a 57-31 lead into halftime.
- Simpson opened the second half on a run, outpacing Buena Vista 11-to-2 but were unable to keep the momentum rolling.
- Buena Vista responded with nine straight points from Neubaum to fend off the Storm's comeback attempt and clinch the victory.
