Riordan’s 24 lifts Storm past Luther, 83-60

INDIANOLA, Iowa — Conor Riordan scored 24 points and the Simpson men's basketball team used two big runs in the first half to pull away for an 83-60 win over Luther on Wednesday night at Cowles Fieldhouse.

Sam Amsbaugh added 18 points, Ben Rajewski made three 3-pointers and Taylor Filbert ripped down nine rebounds for the Storm (6-6, 2-2 Iowa Conference), who won their third game in a row and fourth in the last five.

Simpson trailed by eight early in the first half but Aaron Hauser made two 3s as part of a 16-0 run that gave the Storm a 28-20 lead. An Amsbaugh layup and a Rajewski 3 sparked a 12-0 run later in the half that extended the lead to 18 points as Simpson took a 45-30 lead into the locker room and never looked back.

The Storm led by no less than 15 the rest of the way to win their fifth straight in the series.

Jared Nicolaisen scored 12 points to lead the Norse (4-8, 0-4), who were held to under 36 percent shooting for the game and were out-rebounded 42-34.

Hauser, Filbert and Kyle Wagner each had two 3-pointers apiece for the Storm, who made nine on the game.
