Storm fall to Olivet 78-75 in final seconds

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Chase Brocker came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points, Jalen Adams made the game-winning jumper with 31 seconds left and Olivet beat the Simpson men's basketball team 78-75 on Sunday at the Cruzin' Classic.

Adams made the game-winner as part of a 7-0 run to close the game by the Comets (4-4). Sam Amsbaugh missed a contested layup on the ensuing possession and Adams made a pair of free throws to conclude the scoring.

Amsbaugh finished with 17 points and six assists for the Storm (3-6). Conor Riordan scored 11 of his team-high 19 points in the second half and Taylor Filbert had 12 points, going 4-for-9 from 3-point range.

Olivet outrebounded Simpson 41-32, keeping the Storm winless when getting beat on the glass.

Amsbaugh's layup with 1:39 left gave Simpson a 75-71 lead. Tyler Stumbo put Simpson ahead 73-71 with a lay-in at the 2:47 mark.

Simpson led 41-38 at halftime after back-to-back 3s by Tyler Stumbo and Aaron Hauser. The Storm went 6-for-16 from beyond the arc in the first half, getting four from Filbert.
