Good, bench lift Storm to win over Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Dillon Gretzky had 15 points, Cody Good provided a big boost off the bench and the Simpson men's basketball team beat Rhodes 58-48 in the first round of the Rhodes Thanksgiving Tournament on Saturday.

Simpson will play Wittenberg in the tournament championship game at 2 p.m. Sunday. The Tigers (4-0) beat Millikin 79-64 in Saturday's first game.

The Storm (3-2) never trailed and led by as many as 15 but had to hold off a late rally by the host Lynx (1-2).

Rhodes trailed by 10 early in the second half, but back-to-back buckets by Aquil Muhammad pulled Rhodes within 40-38 with 8:20 left.

Sabonis Smith and Good put an end to the 12-2 rally with back-to-back 3s, growing the lead back to eight. Rhodes came back again, getting to 46-42 on a Brennan Sullivan layup before Good hit his fourth 3 with 4:53 left.

Good went a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range, leading a Simpson bench that outscored Rhodes 23-9.
