Men's basketball heads to Memphis for Rhodes Tournament
The Simpson men's basketball team will take part in the Rhodes Thanksgiving Tournament in Memphis, Tenn. this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 27-28. The Storm (2-2) open the weekend against Rhodes on Friday at 2 p.m. Wittenberg and Millikin play in the first game. The winners will play in the tournament championship at 2 p.m. The consolation game tips off at Noon.
Live stats will be available free of charge and live video can be purchased for $8 per game.

Last time out - Sam Amsbaugh had a double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds, Simpson held high-scoring Grinnell 25 points below its season average and the Storm ran away with a 103-80 win on Tuesday. Dillon Gretzky had 20 points and Austin Turner handed out nine assists as the Storm (2-2) held the Pioneers (3-2) to 80 points or less in a regular season game for just the second time in the past six seasons.
The all-time series - Simpson faces unfamiliar foes this weekend. The Storm have never played Rhodes, Wittenberg or Millikin.
A look at Rhodes - Rhodes enters the weekend with a 1-1 record after a 94-70 win against Johnson on Nov. 20. The Lynx feature a well-balanced offensive attack with five players averaging in double figures. 6-foot-4 junior forward Aquill Muhammed leads the team, averaging a double-double with 12 ppg and 10.5 rpg.
A look at Wittenberg - Wittenberg comes into the weekend with a perfect 3-0 record, most recently beating Oberlin 80-68 in the NCAC opener Tuesday. The Tigers are beating teams by an average of 17 points per game while shooting better than 46 percent from the field. Versatile wing Jaelin Williams leads the team in scoring (14 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg).
A look at Millikin - Millikin comes into the weekend with a 3-2 record after a 68-53 win over Principia on Tuesday. The Big Blue are on a three-game winning streak, also beating Greenville 115-113 and Westminster 65-56. Sophomore guard TJ Sims ranks sixth in the country in scoring, pouring in 30.6 ppg. He scored a season-high 43 in the win over Greenville, the third-highest mark in Division III this season.
