Loras 3s too much for Storm

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Aaron Schueller and Alex Cline scored 17 points apiece and combined to make nine of Loras' 16 3-pointers in a 100-70 win over Simpson on Wednesday.

Schueller went 5-for-7 from long range and Cline 4-for-6 as the Duhawks (14-10, 7-6 Iowa Conference) finished the game going 16-for-27, including 9-for-10 in the first half.

Leif Olson scored 14 points on 6 of 8 shooting for the Storm (4-20, 2-10). Charles Swain and Tyler Anderson added 13 points apiece and point guard Brook Thompson had 12 points and five assists in his first career start.

With the game tied 9-9 early in the first half, Loras opened things up with a 16-0 run. Schueller hit three 3s during the stretch and Nathaniel Smith added a fourth as Loras pulled ahead 25-9 with 10:06 left before halftime.

Simpson couldn't get any closer than 12 the rest of the sway.

The Storm close the season on Saturday, Feb. 22 in Storm Lake against Buena Vista. The Beavers (12-12, 7-6) beat Dubuque 77-75 on Wednesday.

Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
