Storm fall to Dubuque 84-57

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Chris Frazier scored 22 points, Miles Hookstead had 14 and Dubuque had a great shooting day in an 84-57 win over the Simpson men's basketball team.

Frazier went 8-for-11 from the field – including 6-for-9 from beyond the arc – as the Spartans (12-4, 2-3 Iowa Cofnerence) snapped a two-game losing streak, shooting better than 49 percent from the field in the process.

AJ Arrington scored 17 points and Austin Hennings had 12 and nine rebounds for the Storm (5-11, 1-4), who lost their fifth-straight road game.

Arrington scored 11 in the first half and experienced success early on, working his mid-range jumper and attacking the basket. Hennings also looked sharp with eight in the first half.

While Simpson worked in the post, Dubuque rode the hot hand of Frazier, who hit five 3s in the first half and almost single-handedly gave the Spartans a double-digit lead at the break.

After a layup by Drew Bentley tied the game 21-21, a Frazier 3 sparked a 22-11 run to close the half. From the 9:02 mark until intermission, Frazier scored 14 points and made four from outside the arc.

Dubuque took advantage of Simpson's mishandlings, scoring 21 points off 16 turnovers.

Chris Zimmerman hit a 3 to get Simpson within 49-43 with 15:34 left in the game, but a Hookstead jumper helped Dubuque outscore the Storm 20-6 over the next 8:38, resulting in a comfortable 69-49 lead.
