Simpson football games to be broadcast this fall

Live coverage of Simpson College football games will be broadcast on 105.3 KEDB-FM during the Storm's 2009 season.

Storm football will kick off its second season under Head Coach Jim Glogowski (7-3) Sept. 5 against Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, Wis. The home opener will be held Sept. 12 against Northwestern College (Minn.).

In addition to providing Storm football fans with a new way to follow the team, the radio broadcasts will give Simpson students the chance to hone their announcing skills. Simpson students will be on the air during the games to provide the play-by-play.

"The new agreement with KEDB will allow our alumni and fans to follow all of the game day action, even if they can't make it to a game," said John Sirianni, Simpson College athletic director. "It is also a great opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience in the field of broadcasting."

Edwin Brand, owner of KEDB, is looking forward to promoting Storm athletics on his station. "I went to Simpson 10 years ago, so I am excited to get my favorite college on the radio," said Brand.

KEDB is Iowa's True Oldies Channel. It also broadcasts Indianola High School sporting events. The radio station's signal covers a section of northern Missouri and southern Iowa, including Indianola and parts of the Des Moines metro area. Storm fans who live outside of the broadcast area can stream the games live from the station's Facebook page, which can be accessed by visiting www.kedb.fm.
