Kain earns postseason honor for Barnstormers

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Former Simpson wide receiver Dusty Kain earned a postseason award for his play on special teams from the Arena Football League 2's Iowa Barnstormers, the franchise announced on Thursday.

Kain, an All-American for the Storm in 2003, earned the team's "N.O.T.T. Head of the Year" award, which is given to the player who provides the most consistent kick-off coverage. The second-year veteran out of Prairie City, Iowa, led Barnstormers with 27 tackles on special teams.

N.O.T.T. stands for "Nothing Outside The Ten," which serves as Iowa's special teams motto.

Simpson's career leader in every major receiving category (receptions, touchdowns and receiving yards), Kain helped the Barnstormers advance to the second round of the Arena Cup Playoffs, where they dropped a 51-46 decision to Green Bay at Wells Fargo Arena Aug. 8. Iowa ended the season with a record of 13-5, marking the biggest improvement in the league after going 6-10 in 2008.

Kain ended his first full regular season with the Barnstormers as the team's third leading receiver with 54 receptions for 614 yards and two touchdowns.
