Bio

The 2022 season marks James Hoffman's 16th on the Simpson staff and eighth as a full-time assistant. He assumed the duties of offensive coordinator in 2018 in addition to coaching the wide receivers.

Hoffman coached seven all-conference and two all-region receivers since taking over in 2012, including first teamer and all-region performer Brad Vogel in 2013.

Hoffman began coaching the Storm in 2006 as a student assistant. He lettered three times for Simpson from 2003-05 as a defensive back for the Storm.

Before joining the Simpson staff full-time in 2013, Hoffman spent the previous 10 years as an assistant track and field coach at Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. There, he coached sprints, relays and high jump for the boys' program. He helped Roosevelt win conference championships in 11 of the last 12 seasons and a district championship in 2005.

Hoffman graduated from Simpson in 2005 with a degree in sports administration.

James resides in Des Moines with his wife, Kasey (a former Simpson softball player), and daughters Kameryn and Kourtney.
