A standout linebacker in his playing days for the Storm, Ted Haag enters his fifth season on Simpson's coaching staff in 2018. He was promoted to defensive coordinator for the 2017 season while remaining the position coach for the linebackers. Under Haag's leadership, the Storm defense generated 19 takeaways, the most by the Storm in 12 seasons. 

Haag was a four-year letterwinner at linebacker for the Storm, earning second team all-conference honors as a senior in 2013. He served as a team captain in 2013 and graduated with a double major in management and economics.
