Cook, Jensen named IIAC Players of the Week

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson football players Cole Cook and Drew Jensen earned Iowa Conference Player of the Week honors following the Storm's 25-23 win over Illinois College on Sept. 10. Cook earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week award while Jensen was the Special Teams Player of the Week.

A senior linebacker from Tipton, Iowa, Cook made a career-high 17 tackles in the win, breaking up one pass. After two weeks, Cook was tied for 16th in Division III with 13.5 tackles per game. He became the first Storm defensive player to earn the accolade since Ben Borland back in 2012.

A junior placekicker from Indianola, Iowa, Jensen set a school record with four made field goals against the Blueboys, going 4-for-4 including the game-winning, 28-yarder with 1:10 remaining in the fourth quarter. He also hit from 37, 23 and 31 yards, breaking the record set by Bill Nelson in 2006. The accolade is the second of Jensen's career.
