Beem named to Academic All-America team

The best running back in the Iowa Conference is no slouch in the classroom either.

Simpson junior Jordan Beem has been named to the 2015 Academic All-America® Division III Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America. Beem becomes the fourth Academic All-American in program history.

Complete Academic All-America Team

A product of Altoona, Iowa and Southeast Polk High School, Beem owns a 3.71 cumulative GPA while majoring in history. He is a two-time All-Iowa Conference Academic pick and earned All-Iowa Conference First Team honors in 2015.

The 2015 season was one to remember for Beem, who led the IIAC with 1,254 yards rushing. He ran for the most yards by a Simpson player since 2008, becoming the 10th player in program history to eclipse 1,000 yards. He scored 15 total touchdowns - 13 rushing - and caught 15 passes for 254 yards. He closed the season with seven straight 100-yard games, all against IIAC competition.

Beem is Simpson's second Academic All-American in the past two seasons and third in the past four. Alex Severn earned second team honors in 2014 and Mark Cronin was a second team pick in 2012. Guy Leman became Simpson's first Academic All-American when he earned first team honors in 1998.
