Jensen named IIAC Player of the Week

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Simpson placekicker Drew Jensen earned Iowa Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the week ending Sunday, Oct. 25.

A sophomore from Indianola, Iowa, Jensen tied a school record for field goals in a game, going a perfect 3-for-3 in Simpson's 27-9 loss at Loras on Oct. 24. His third field goal of the day was a career-long 45-yarder that gave the Storm a 9-6 lead with 13:49 to play.

The 45-yarder is the longest by an IIAC player this season and the longest by a Simpson player since 2010. He also made attempts from 28 and 19 yards. Jensen is now 2-for-3 on attempts from 40-plus yards this season. 

The IIAC weekly honor is the first of Jensen's career and the fourth for a Simpson player in 2015. Davey Jergens (Offensive POTW, 9/6), Jordan Beem (Offensive POTW, 10/4) and Braden Meints (Special Teams POTW, 10/18) have also earned IIAC accolades.

The Storm host Central in the final home game of the season Saturday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
