Fall is here, and Saturday will fee like true football weather. The Weather Channel calls for mostly sunny skies and a high of 64 degrees with winds blowing East at around 12 mph. Zero chance of precipitation will make for an ideal fall Saturday.

THINK PINK
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Saturday is the annual Think Pink Game. Both teams will be wearing pink to commemorate the occasion. Simpson's Breast Cancer Awareness Club will host a table distributing brochures and stickers and selling t-shirts and baked goods. 

QUICK HIT
Simpson and Buena Vista have developed a reputation for playing close games, the last three being decided by a total of 11 points. Both teams went 1-2 in the non-conference slate and hope to get the Iowa Conference schedule started on the right foot. Both teams rely on strong running games. The Beavers will lean on sophomore Cody Mowry (123.3 ypg) and the Storm will feature the duo of Jordan Beem and Davey Jergens.

SERIES HISTORY
Simpson and Buena Vista meet for the 70th time in a series that dates back to the 1927 season … Simpson leads the all-time se­ries 35-34, but Buena Vista has won the last three in a row and six of nine. The last three games in the series have been decided by a TD or less, with Buena Vista winning 29-27 in 2012, 34-32 in 2013 and 38-31 last season … Simpson is 23-13 at home against Buena Vista.

LAST TIME OUT
Josh Williams ran for 122 yards and Elmhurst took advantage of three Simpson turnovers in a 31-12 loss last Saturday. Drew Domino threw for 184 yards and Williams scored two TDs for the Bluejays (3-0), who scored 17 points off Simpson turnovers in the second ever meeting between the two teams. Sean Wetherell returned an interception 19 yards for a touchdown and Elmhurst took advantage of short fields on a pair of Simpson fumbles. A botched snap on a quick-punt attempt led to a 31-yard Brett Bayer field goal in the second quarter and a fourth-quarter fumble by Caleb Frye set up a two-yard score by Williams. Frye finished with 126 yards passing, throwing TDs to Devin Norman and Jackson Redmond for the Storm (1-2). Davey Jergens ran for 67 yards on 15 carries. Clay Finley and Justin Shepherd made seven tackles apiece and Michael Pavon made an acrobatic interception to close the first half.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
Buena Vista is 1-2, losing big to top-25 opponents UW-Platteville (49-13) and St. John's (56-7) before earning a 14-10 win over Waldorf in the home-opener last weekend … the Beavers rank last in the IIAC in scoring offense (11.3 ppg) and second-to-last in total offense (286.3 ypg) … sophomore running back Cody Mowery is the team's top offensive weapon, averaging 123.3 yards per game on the ground. He is coming off a season-high 165-yard effort in the win over Waldorf … the Beavers are breaking in a new quarterback after the departure of two-time all-Iowa Conference performer Bobby Brown. Tory Berger and Trevor Trunck have shared the signal-calling duties so far in 2015 … the defense is led by reigning IIAC Player of the Week Quamree Harris, who had nine tackles and 1.5 sacks in the win over Waldorf. He stopped the Waldorf quarterback at the goal line on the final play of the game … two-time all-IIAC kicker Tyler Stolen is the team's primary threat on special teams.

PLAYING BY THE RULES
Simpson comes into today's game as the least penalized team in the Iowa Conference. Through three games, the Storm have committed just seven penalties for 57 yards.

THIRD DOWN WOES
Third down hasn't been kind to Simpson on either side of the ball in 2015. Through three games, Simpson is last in the Iowa Conference on third down, converting on just 15 of 40 tries (32.5 percent). On defense, Simpson ranks seventh in the league, allowing opponents to convert better than 50 percent of the time (20 of 39).

FRAZIER MAKING AN IMPACT
The play of junior defensive end Isaac Frazier has been a big boost to the Simpson defense in 2015. A two-sport athlete, Frazier saw increasing playing time late in the 2014 campaign before experiencing a break out season as a multi-event athlete in track and field. So far this season the 6-4, 220-pounder leads the team in sacks (2.5) and TFLs (4.0).

JENSEN NEAR PERFECTION
Drew Jensen missed his first career extra point in last week's loss to Elmhurst. He is now 24-for-25 during his career and 5-for-6 on field goal attempts. The 2014 honorable mention all-IIAC performer tied a school record by going a perfect 19-for-19 on PATs last season.

JERGENS SWINGS FOR THE FENCES
Sophomore Davey Jergens made a big impression in the first full varsity contest of his career, scoring three touchdown on just seven touches in the season opener against Wis.-River Falls. He caught a 63-yard TD, ran for a 56-yard TD and bowled in from 2-yards out. The 56-yard scamper was the game-winner against the Falcons.

BEEM ME UP, JORDAN
Junior running back Jordan Beem opened the season with a career-best effort, running for 121 yards on 29 carries in the week one win over Wis.-River Falls, the third 100-yard effort of his career. He leads the team with 189 yards on 57 carries this season.

SNAPPING THE STREAK
The Storm snapped a forgettable seven-game losing streak by winning the season-opener against Wisconsin-River Falls on Sept. 5. Simpson started the 2014 season 3-0 before a rash of injuries led to a 0-7 finish to the campaign. Now, Simpson is looking for its first Iowa Conference win since Nov. 16, 2013.

IIAC PRESEASON COACHES' POLL
The coaches picked Simpson to tie for seventh in the league, according to the IIAC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Simpson and Buena Vista each received 22 votes. PRESEASON ALL-AMERICANS
Three Simpson football players were named to the USA College Football D-III Preseason All-America Team prior to the season. Senior Center Corey Meyer was named to the first team, senior offensive lineman Blake Bergstrom earned a spot on the second team and junior running back Jordan Beem landed on the second team as a returner and third team as a running back.

GLOGOWSKI CLIMBS WINS LIST
Eighth-year head coach Jim Glogowski tied R.G. "Hap" Miller for second on Simpson's all-time wins list with the Storm's 28-21 win over Wis.-River Falls on Sept. 5 … Glowgoski is now 34-37 since taking over in 2008 … Jim Williams holds the title, going 106-48-1 during his 15-year career from 1987-2001.

TEAM CAPTAINS
Simpson has just two team captains in 2015: wide receiver Nate Connealy and defensive end Clay Finley. Both fifth-year seniors were granted an extra year of eligibility after suffering season-ending injuries early in 2014. Both were team captains a year ago and both have earned all-IIAC accolades in the past. Finley earned second team honors in 2013 while Connealy was an honorable mention pick the same season.
