Jergens named IIAC Player of the Week

INDIANOLA, Iowa – Running back Davey Jergens scored three TDs in Simpson's season-opener en-route to Iowa Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors.

The IIAC also recognized Jergens as its Male Athlete of the Week for the period ending Sunday, Sept. 6.

A sophomore form West Bend, Iowa, Jergens provided big play after big play in the Storm's 28-21 win over Wisconsin-River Falls on Saturday, Sept. 6. He opened the scoring with a 2-yard TD run, made a 63-yard TD reception and scored the game-winner on a 56-yard run in the fourth quarter.

Jergens finished the day with 72 yards on six rushes while the 63-yard reception was his only of the game. He also returned one kick for 22 yards.

Simpson is idle this week and returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19 at Illinois Wesleyan.
