Storm football players named to preseason All-America team

INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Simpson football team will take the field with three preseason All-Americans when the 2015 season kicks off Sept. 5 against Wisconsin-River Falls.

Offensive linemen Corey Meyer and Blake Bergstrom and running back/return specialist Jordan Beem were named to the USA College Football D-III Preseason All-America Team, the organization announced last week.

Meyer, a rising senior, earned first team honors as a center. The Iowa City native is a two-time All-IIAC performer, including a first team selection in 2014. He has started 17 games throughout his career.

Another rising senior, Bergstrom landed on the second team as a tackle. The 6-5, 255-pound Ankeny product was a second team All-IIAC pick in 2014 and is a two-year starter for the Storm at left tackle.

Following a dynamic sophomore campaign, Beem was recognized as a second team return specialist and a third team running back. The former Southeast Polk prep was the team's leading rusher in 2014 and ranked fifth in the Iowa Conference in all-purpose yards. He averaged 4.2 yards per carry, 16.4 yards per kick return and 8.9 yards per punt return.
