Gale named IIAC Player of the Week

Iowa Conference Release

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Simpson football player James Gale earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the period ending Nov. 6 after connecting on a pair of field goals in the Storm's 14-0 win over Buena Vista.

A senior placekicker from Waukee, Iowa, Gale made field goals of 22 and 27 yards in the second quarter. Both kicks were into the teeth of a strong wind, giving Simpson the 6-0 lead it held until the late in the fourth quarter. Gale missed his first attempt of the day, a 45-yarder which would have tied a career-long.

The honor is the second of Gale's career. He also took home the award for the period ending Oct. 16.

With Saturday's performance, Gale moved into third on Simpson's all-time scoring list for kickers. He now has 127 points on his career.

Gale and the Storm close their season on Saturday, Nov. 12 when the Central Dutch (6-3, 5-2 Iowa Conference) visit Buxton Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
