Football announces 2011 team captains

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Head football coach Jim Glogowski announced today the selection of Simpson's team captans for the 2011 season.

Senior wide receiver Ben Coy (Jewell, Iowa), senior linebacker Braden Everding (Tripoli, Iowa), senior defensive lineman Ty Larsen (Des Moines, Iowa), senior defensive lineman Joseph Sorenson (Maswell, Iowa), senior offensive lineman Brian Tjossem (Sutherland, Iowa) and junior tight end Alex McCarty (Prescott, Iowa) will represent the Storm in 2011. The six upperclassmen were selected by a team vote.

"I am extremely confident that the players chosen will do an outstanding job of providing leadership for the 2011 team," Glogowski said. "Being selected a team captain by your peers is one of the highest honors you can receive as a college football player.

"This is the first class of players we have been fortunate eough to bring in as freshmen and watch them develop through their careers. As a whole, this group of seniors is talented and capable of leaving its mark on the Simpson footbll tradition."

Simpson opens the 2011 season Sept. 3 when it travels to Arden Hills, Minn. to take on Bethel. The home opener is Sept. 10 against St. Olaf.
