Everding, Schott named Academic All-District

Simpson juniors Braden Everding and Jarrod Schott earned CoSIDA/ESPN Academic All-District VII honors, as announced Thursday.

Owning a 3.78 cumulative GPA in exercise science, Everding - a linebacker from Tripoli, Iowa - earned a spot on the Academic All-District First Team, making him eligible for Academic All-Amiercan consideration. 

Through nine games, Everding leads the team and ranks 11th in the Iowa Conference with 72 tackles, including 7.5 for loss and five sacks. He also has an interception and a forced fumble. Everding earned Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors Sept. 19 after posting nine tackles, a sack and an interception in a 14-7 win over Loras.

With a 3.96 cumulative GPA in mathematics, Schott - a defensive back from Pocahontas, Iowa - earned third team Academic All-District honors. Also a member of the track and field team, Schott has 39 tackles, one pass breakup and a forced fumble on the year.
