Everding named IIAC Defensive Player of the Week

INDIANOLA – Simpson linebacker Braden Everding earned Iowa Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors for the period ending Sept. 19, the conference office announced Tuesday.

Everding – a junior from Tripoli – led the charge defensively in the Storm's 14-7 win over Loras on Saturday. The exercise science major made a team-high nine tackles, helping the Simpson defense limit the Duhawks to only 52 yards rushing. Everding intercepted a pass and recorded one of the team's six sacks.

The win improved Simpson's record to 1-2 on the season, 1-0 in the Iowa Conference. The Storm travel to Storm Lake on Saturday to face Buena Vista in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
