INDIANOLA, Iowa — Dylan Diveney threw six scoreless innings, Tanner Wood had three hits and four RBIs and Central handed the Simpson baseball team a 15-0, seven-inning loss in the series opener Friday evening.
Diveney (2-0) held Simpson to four hits, striking out six and walking one. Wood had two doubles, Trevor Kimm added two hits and four RBIs and the Dutch (19-19, 11-11 Iowa Conference) snapped a five-game losing streak in the series.
The Storm (6-28, 3-19) managed just five hits in the game. Luke Anctil had the lone extra-base hit, getting a double to lead off the fifth. Adam Richman (1-6) suffered the loss, allowing nine runs -- four earned -- off seven hits in four innings of work.
Three Simpson errors resulted in five unearned runs for the Dutch.
