Storm offense quiet in doubleheader loss

LINCOLN, Neb. — The Simpson baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday, falling 5-1 in game one and 2-1 in game two to begin a three-game set from NWU Field.

The Simpson offense struggled against Nebraska Wesleyan pitching, getting just six hits on the day as the Storm (4-13, 1-4 Iowa Conference) dropped their fourth game in a row. 

Game 1
Trey Kehoe was the hard-luck loser in the opener, giving up just one earned run in seven innings of work. He allowed five runs in all as the Storm mustered just four runs on the offensive end. Josh Osborne drove in the lone run of the game, cutting Nebraska Wesleyan's lead to 2-1 in the fifth before the Prairie Wolves (10-11, 3-2 Iowa Conference) tacked on two in the home half and one in the seventh to secure the win.

Game 2
Adam Richman surrendered just two runs -- one earned -- in seven innings, striking out six but the Simpson offense could only muster a single run as the Storm fell to Nebraska Wesleyan 2-1 in the second game of Friday's doubleheader. Brook Johnson drove in what would be the winning run in the fifth inning, driving home Owen Gubbles to make the score 2-0 at the time. Simpson had just two hits, scoring its lone run on a wild pitch in the sixth.
