Storm drop regular season finale to Buena Vista

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Tanner Truesdell hit the go-ahead home run in game one, Michael Zellar drove in five runs in game two and No. 20 Buena Vista handed the Simpson baseball team a pair of losses Saturday, 7-5 and 10-5.

Austin Burlin had a five-hit day for the Storm (13-27, 10-18 Iowa Conference), who got the No. 6 seed in next weekend's Iowa Conference Tournament. The Beavers (31-9, 22-6) hit three home runs on the day and will have the No. 2 seed next weekend.

Game 1: Buena Vista 7, Simpson 5
Simpson came back to tie the game twice before Truesdell homered and Devin Wagenman added an insurance run in the sixth. The Storm got a pair of base hits in the sixth but couldn't score and went down in order in the seventh.

Sawyer Ocheltree hit a game-tying sacrifice fly in the fourth and Trent Dooley tied it 5-5 on a single in the fifth. Tyson Valentine (6-0) allowed 11 hits and five runs in five innings and Wes Onken fanned four in the two-inning save. Trevor Dudar (2-5) allowed three runs off six hits in three innings of relief.

Game 2: Buena Vista 10, Simpson 5
Simpson came back from a three-run deficit in the sixth but couldn't respond to Buena Vista's five-run eighth. Zellar gave the Beavers a 5-2 lead with a three-run homer in the sixth and drove in two on a single in the eighth.

Anctil, Burlin and Ocheltree drove in runs to tie it 5-5 in the sixth before Buena Vista broke it open in the eighth. 

Charlie Ruff (2-0) held Simpson hitless over the final 2 2/3 innings, striking out three. Tyler Englehardt (1-2) gave up five runs - all earned - off three hits. Jalen Sickels allowed just two hits and three runs in the start, going 5 1/3 innings.
