Ruehle named IIAC Pitcher of the Week
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – Simpson baseball player Kyle Ruehle earned Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Pitcher of the Week honors for the period ending April 15, as announced by the league office.
Ruehle, a senior right-hander from Cherokee, Iowa, pitched a complete-game one-hitter while tying a career-high with six strikeouts in an 11-0 victory over Cornell on April 13. It was his first career shutout.
Ruehle held the Rams hitless after allowing leadoff hitter Joe Gerace to reach on a single in the bottom of the first inning.
Simpson (14-16, 8-7 Iowa Conference) hosts Buena Vista in a three-game set this weekend.
