A 2000 graduate, Sams is one of the greatest goal scorers in the history of NCAA Division III Women’s Soccer. A four-time First Team All-Iowa Conference performer, two-time First Team All-American and two-time IIAC MVP, Sams led the Storm to a conference title in her senior season of 1999. Simpson earned a berth in the national tournament, advancing to the second round. During her illustrious career, Sams scored 1.40 goals per game on her way to 113 in four seasons. The mark ranks fourth in NCAA Division III history. She also holds the second longest streak of games with at least one goal, finding the back of the net in 23 consecutive contests from Sept. 17, 1998 to Sept. 22, 1999. She is one of 29 players to score six goals in a game, doing so Oct. 27, 1998 against William Jewell. Sams earned a bachelor’s degree in social work from Simpson before receiving a master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling from Drake in 2004. Since 2004, she has served as a social worker for the State of Hawaii in Kapaa, Hawaii. Alicia and her husband, Tim ‘97, have three children: sons Joey (6) and Jaiden (4) and daughter Jayna (2).
