Bio

One of the few 1,000-point scorers in the history of Simpson women’s basketball, Michelle Mackie closed out her career in 1992 as the fifth-leading scorer in program history. With 1,059 career points, Mackie is now ninth on the all-time list after a career in which she garnered two all-conference accolades and an All-American nod.

A four-year letterwinner from 1989-92, she collected second team all-conference honors as a junior in 1991 before bringing home First Team All-IIAC hardware and Honorable Mention All-America honors as a senior in 1992. Mackie was also selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American for the 1991-92 season. Off the court, the mathematics major was awarded Outstanding Chemistry Student of the Year in 1991 and in 1992 was a member of Omicron Delta Kappa National Honor Society. Mackie graduated Summa Cum Laude with a B.A. in mathematics in 1992 before earning her Master’s in biomechanics from Iowa State University in 1995. In 1997, Iowa State honored Mackie as the university’s Academic Advisor of the Year.

Mackie is a multi-year member of the Executive Women’s Golf Association, an LGBT Center of Iowa board member, a regular participant in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure and a contributor to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Mackie is currently a First Vice President – Investment Officer and Financial Advisor practicing in West Des Moines, Iowa. Mackie currently resides in Clive, Iowa.  She is married and has two daughters.
