Despite standing just 5-foot-10 and weighing in at 175 pounds during his playing days, Dusty Kain ‘06 will go down as a giant among Simpson passcatchers. The three-time first team All-Iowa Conference performer holds school single season records for receiving yards (1,466), receptions (93) and touchdowns (14), and career records for yards (3,210) and receptions (233). Kain burst onto the scene as a sophomore in 2003, piecing together the greatest seasons by a receiver in school history. He hauled in 93 passes for 1,466 yards and 14 touchdowns while leading the Storm to a 9-2 record and a berth in the NCAA Playoffs. He reached 1,000 yards receiving again as a junior in 2004 and was named a finalist for the Gagliardi Trophy - the Division III Heisman - in 2005. He was also a two-time all-conference outfielder on the baseball team.

Kain graduated from Simpson in 2006 with degrees in Sports Administration and Marketing. He played three seasons with the Arena Football League’s Iowa Barnstormers.
