Bio

In the tradition-rich history of Simpson College wrestling, John Hatfield’s name sits above all others for his record-setting 1997-98 season.

That year, Hatfield won an astounding 47 matches, going 47-6 at 134 pounds en-route to a fifth-place finish at the Division III national tournament. His effort at nationals helped Simpson take fifth place, tied for the best NCAA finish in school history (also finished fifth in 2004). In all, Hatfield closed his career as a two-time All-American, earning an eighth-place finish at 134 pounds as a junior in 1997. He went 112-63 during his career, currently the seventh most wins in Simpson history.

Originally from Liberty, Mo., Hatfield graduated from Simpson in 1998 with a degree in Corporate Communication.
