19 named to spring All-Academic team
CEDAR RAPIDS - Simpson placed 19 students on the 2014 Iowa Conference Spring All-Academic Team, as announced by the league office.
To be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing, have at least one academic year in residence, and attain a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale).
The men's track and field team led the way with six selections, followed closely by softball with five. Three members of the women's track and field team met the requirements, followed by two each from the baseball and men's tennis teams. One men's golfer landed on the list.
Simpson closes the 2013-14 academic year with 76 All-IIAC Academic honorees: 50 in the fall, seven in the winter and 19 in the spring.
