Simpson places 34 on All-IIAC Academic Team

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Thirty-four Simpson student-athletes competing in spring sports earned a spot on the 2016-17 Iowa Conference All-Academic Team. 

To be eligible for IIAC All-Academic Team honors, a student-athlete must compete at the varsity level, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and sustain a 3.5 or better cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). 

The 34 student-athletes who earned a spot on the team averaged a lofty 3.74 GPA, well above the minimum requirement. 

The track and field teams led the way with 22 total selections, including 13 members of the women's team and nine on the men's side. The baseball and softball teams had four picks apiece, three men's tennis players landed on the list and one men's golfer made the grade to round out Simpson's winners.
