Seven named to track & field all-region team

INDIANOLA, Iowa - Seven members of the Simpson track and field team earned 10 U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Central Region accolades for the 2016 outdoor season, as announced by the USTCCCA earlier this week.

Jordan Coughenour, Isaac Frazier, Davey Jergens, Dylan Kalinay, Travis Tupper, Emmitt Wheatley and Sarah Galbraith all earned the award by ranking in the top-five of an individual event in the region or top-three of a relay team according to final TFRRS data.

The Storm men finished with a No. 8 ranking in the Central Region and their nine all-region honors were the best in the Iowa Conference. Coughenour owned the region's top time in the 400-meter hurdles, Frazier had the No. 2 score in the decathlon, Kalinay had the No. 2 time in the hurdles and Wheatley finished No. 2 in the 100. The 4x100 team ranked No. 3 in the Central Region.

Frazier, Kalinay, Wheatley and Galbraith also earned all-region honors following the indoor season.

Three of Simpson's all-region honorees are participating in the 2016 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Waverly this week: Frazier in the decathlon, Kalinay in the 110-meter hurdles and Wheatley in the 100-meter dash.

Coughenour won the IIAC title in the 400-meter hurdles and Galbraith was the IIAC long jump champion.
