October Student-Athletes of the Month: Tabitha Blaser and Mitchell White

Tabitha Blaser reached a career milestone on the volleyball court and Mitchell White cemented his name in the Storm men's soccer record books as the duo earned Simpson’s Student-Athlete of the Month honors for October 2014.

A junior from Forest City, Iowa, Blaser posted 190 kills and hit .222 in 16 matches during the month, reaching the 1,000 career kill mark in the process. She becomes just the 15th player in school history to reach the milestone and currently ranks 14th all-time. She closed the season ranked fourth in the IIAC with a career-best 387 kills and earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

A senior from Decorah, Iowa, White closed his historic career as Simpson's all-time leader in goals scored (42) and points (92). After setting the career record for goals in September, he added the record for points during Simpson's 7-0 win over Coe on Oct. 18. The most prolific offensive player in program history, White scored four goals and had one assist in nine games during the month and earned second team all-conference honors at season's end.
